Akim Oda District Police Commander Superintendent Samuel Ntoso, has confirmed the recovery of the body of three children who were murdered, allegedly for ritual purposes.
He revealed that the Police acting on intelligence found the bodies of the children in a nearby river and when brought out, discovered their necks to have been broken, all three.
He said the bodies were undergoing postmortem after which the public will be given any more information.
The minors, aged between 9-13 were killed within a three-day interval in the Akim Oda area.
The Kontihene of the area, Akyem Kotoku, Obirempong Sarfo Gyamfi Kyere called on the Oda Divisional Police Command and all security personnel to be up and doing so as to stall the rampant killings of minors in the Oda Municipality by “Agona Swedru guys” whom he alleges to be involved in human rituals for money, or sakawa.
Obirempong in an interview during the Akyemansa’s ‘Adekyee Mu Nsem’ show hosted by Kofi Appiah Kubi, he said it is very alarming for him as a chief to see most of the minors in the municipality being killed and part of their bodies allegedly used for money-making rituals, urging residents to be more vigilant and take note of strangers and suspicious activities.
He fingered Swedru Sakawa boys as being those responsible for all the incidents of ritual murder in the area.
Obirempong said those act of killings were not seen in the traditional area until “those Agona Swedru guys intruded into the municipality”, the latest of their victims being those three minors between ages 9 and 13, he alleged, even as Police are yet to finish their investigations and postmortem.
He has called on the police in the area to help him protect his people by being proactive in the fight against crime.
“The Police should be more proactive to put a halt to this activity of the perpetrators. They must be dexterous and more informational (sic) so as to prevent the spread of this act by the ‘bad guys”‘ the Obirempong said.
Superintendent Samuel Ntoso has called for calm in the wake of the developments, assuring the people in the area of the police capacity to deal with the issues.
He encouraged all the areas in the municipality to set up ‘Community Watch Dogs’ to help fight internal criminals, while collaborating with the police at all times to bring such crimes under control.
