Legendary highlife musician, Amakye Dede has indicated he will continue to thrill fans on stage even after swearing oath of allegiance to Nana Akuoko Sarpong.
Amakye Dede will swear the oath of allegiance to the Omanhene of Asante Akyem Agogo, Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong on Sunday February 25, 2018 after he was installed chief early this year.
Several people especially fans of Amakye Dede are of the views that the Iron Boy hitmaker could no longer perform on stage after his confirmation as a chief on Sunday.
But speaking on Peace Entertainment News on Friday, the popular highlife artiste debunked assertions he could no longer thrill his fans saying, his stool title ‘Okyeredom’, literally means “a crowd-puller” is what earned him the honour as a chief and that he will continue to do what he likes doing best to bring more glory to the Asante Akyem community.
“Yes it’s true I’ll be swearing oath of allegiance on Sunday but I want all my fans to remain calm. I will continue to perform on stage even after the oath has been sworn. I was installed chief because of what I do, and It’s through music so I’ll still thrill fans”, he indicated.
The Paramount Chief, Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong conferred an honorary chieftaincy title on Amakye Dede at a colorful ceremony held at Agogo on 1st January 2018.
Nana Akuoko Sarpong gave Amakye Dede a stool name Barima Okyeredom Amakye Dede I, which indicated the popular musician is a crowd-puller, whose exploits in the world of music has not only earned him a good name but has brought glory to the entire Agogo area, where he comes from.
Nana Akuoko Sarpong further stated that the conferment of the title on Amakye Dede was to say ‘thank you’ to him for his newly constructed hotel in the town.
